Uniting to Increase Impact | Update from Komen Central Tennessee

Dear friends and supporters,

As valued members of the Susan G. Komen® family, we wanted to let you know about some changes we are making to operate more efficiently and increase our impact in the fight against breast cancer across Tennessee and the nation.

As you may be aware, last year we announced that Komen was evolving its business model, from a federated organization of independent Affiliates to a single, united entity.  This change was made as both a response to the economic impacts of the pandemic and to more effectively meet the evolving needs of patients. As part of this change, Komen has transitioned to a virtual workplace, lowering our operational costs and enabling us to maintain team members in local communities while collaborating with colleagues across the region and country.

We remain committed to continuing to provide a community of hope and support for everyone in our state who has been touched by breast cancer. Whether you need help or are looking to help others, we remain here for you.

Our mission has not changed. We continue to work tirelessly to save lives and create a world without breast cancer.  We will achieve this by:

  • Investing in breakthrough research, focused on accelerating discovery of more effective treatments for the most aggressive and deadly breast cancers,
  • Supporting patients directly, helping meet their critical and immediate needs through a comprehensive suite of Patient Care Services, and
  • Advocating on behalf of the breast cancer community at all levels of government to secure more research funding and enhance access to care

Rest assured, we will continue to host our annual More Than Pink Walks® in Chattanooga and Nashville – held virtually last year, and in-person again when able and appropriate.

While we are making changes, some things will never change. We will continue to support people facing breast cancer today, serving as a trusted and valued partner throughout a person’s breast cancer journey.

Most importantly, our vision remains the same: a world without breast cancer.

With gratitude for your support of our mission,

The Team at Komen Central TN
